The PATRICIA SWEETOW GALLERY website was a joint effort of Christina Olivas and her team. The website was crafted after Spun Smoke – Spun Smoke an ecommerce site, PSG an information site – both sites hard driven by visuals. The websites are linked, each adding dimension to it’s sister site. I’ve enjoyed the process of learning the in’s and out’s of design, function, functionality, CMS systems. This is a new world to me, a fascinating place to hang-out and learn. Some may wonder why I would bother with the PSG website when I don’t yet have a gallery, the answer is somewhat complicated. I did because I could, wanted to, but also because Spun Smoke was so beautiful it put PSG to shame. PSG’s outdated site was home to incredible artists who I admire. All of us deserved something better, and I knew this was possible, with the help of Christina. The website is now the PSG face to the world, it’s a gallery within a gallery. I wish it were possible to provide a complete archive of the gallery’s history, but the time it would take to recreate 18 years is beyond my capacity – so let me thank all the voices, faces and visions this gallery has had the honor to host, who are not acknowledged in the website.
I also want to give much overdue credit to Michelle Frey, a designer and graphic artist who I’ve worked with since the early 1990’s. Whenever I needed a new look, concept or even a facelift Michelle was right there. We’ve worked together so long she can read my thoughts, she has quite an archive of my past “branding”. Without Michelle’s insight and visual acuity my growth would be stunted. I can’t imagine being without her design chops – thank you Michelle!! Michelle also brought Christina to my attention, a different generation of designer. With their combined skills it’s hard to imagine a more effective team.
